| Stella Whitney-West appointed CEO of NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center - Wednesday, December 19, 2007
The Hennepin county board ratified NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center’s Community Board selection of Stella Whitney-West as Chief Executive Officer effective December 19, 2007. Whitney-West has been the Interim CEO of NorthPoint since June 2007.
The selection of Whitney West was the culmination of a six month national search process undertaken by a specially created committee of the Board of Directors and an outside search firm that started formally after the departure of NorthPoint’s former CEO on June 1. Over 100 candidates applied for the position. Stella’s experienced background as an executive, manager and familiarity with the community were among the distinguishing features of her candidacy.
“Stella is an experienced, talented leader who has made crucial and substantial contributions toward NorthPoint's growth and the Board looks forward to working with Stella to create an even greater future for the organization and the community” said Beverly Propes, Board Chair of NorthPoint’s Community Board of Directors.
About her selection, Whitney-West said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to work in such a dynamic, innovative organization which aims to improve peoples lives. I am also proud to continue building on NorthPoint legacy of providing critical services to North Minneapolis and the broader community for the past four decades. I look forward to working with all interested organizations and partners in making a real difference in North Minneapolis.”
The NorthPoint Community Board Search Committee co-chaired by George Roberts and Denise Arnette Carter, included board members Beverly Propes, Esther Moore, Doua Lee, April Estes, Doloris Irwin, Maggie Dexheimer Pharris, Barbara Lightsy, as well as Richard Johnson (Hennepin County Administrator) and Carolyn Bacon (facilitator to the group). The search committee selected the executive search firm of Langan & Flynn, LLC.
